Hiring a Malaysian confinement nanny in Singapore.

The employing family is responsible for the confinement nanny Work Permit. This page organises the key official steps, but the Ministry of Manpower source remains authoritative.

1. Check that the family and nanny are eligible

The employer must be at least 21 years old and have a newborn under four months old. The confinement nanny must be Malaysian and aged 23 to 70 at the time of application, and will work at the employer's residence.

  • Confirm the nanny's nationality and age.
  • Confirm the baby's expected or actual birth date.
  • Agree who will apply: the employer or an appointed licensed Employment Agency.

2. Apply within the permitted window

MOM states that applications can be made from four weeks before the estimated delivery date until 16 weeks after the child's birth. Starting early gives the family room to resolve missing details.

3. Budget for permit, levy and insurance

The application fee is S$35. The monthly levy is listed as S$60 when the baby is a Singapore citizen and S$300 otherwise. Medical insurance coverage must meet the current MOM requirement; verify the live amount and policy terms before purchase.

4. Keep placement and permit roles clear

BulanBloom provides matching, documentation support and checklist visibility. We do not claim to submit Work Permit applications or perform regulated employment-agency work unless it is done through an appropriately licensed partner.

Always verify before acting.
